| Disciples of Divine Mercy |
|
St. Faustina was asked by Merciful Jesus to found a new religious order of sisters and brothers to give their lives interceding for mercy for the world and to do works of mercy in His name. As part of this intercession Jesus would grant mercy for sinners and bring people who had lost the faith to come back to Him and through this great work of intercession you would help save many souls. With the help of her spiritual director, Blessed Fr. Michael Sopocko, these new congregations were founded in Vilnius and flourish today interceding for the world and working in His name. St. Faustina was also asked by Jesus to find people who would become lay disciples in this important work and be park of these congregations in their own area. (Diary 1156) These Disciples would be a movement inspired by the spirituality of St. Faustina and Blessed Fr. Michael Sopocko in doing the work of spreading His Divine Mercy message of seeking intercession for the world through our deeds, words and prayers. It was not to become just a talking shop meeting once a month but must be an active working group to actually go out and spread the message and seek funds for works of mercy in His name. The inspiration for us to offer ourselves up to do this work for Jesus would be taken from frequent attendance at the Eucharistic Sacrifice, in which Jesus is constantly offering Himself up seeking Divine Mercy from the Father to us all. These lay disciples must aim to unite all of their prayers, work, difficulties and sufferings with the Sacrifice of Jesus. This would help them surrender completely to the Will of God, in all aspects of their lives. |
